Palma de Mallorca has a way of stealing your heart — and your appetite — from the moment you arrive. This vibrant Mediterranean city blends history, sunshine, and a thriving food scene into one irresistible package.
For me, this trip quickly became a foodie adventure. I’d heard Palma had great restaurants, but the real gems came from a recommendation by a local — because, let’s be honest, locals always know best.
Two spots stood out above the rest: La Trastienda Mallorca and Idillo Cocina & Vinos. Both are tucked-away, authentic places where you feel like you’ve stumbled onto something special. They each put a creative twist on traditional tapas, while keeping the flavours honest and the atmosphere relaxed. Best of all, they’re fantastic value for money — proof that world-class food doesn’t have to come with a luxury price tag.
And the patatas bravas? Absolutely unforgettable at both. La Trastienda’s were the perfect balance of crispy and tender, with a bold, tangy sauce. But Idillo took things to another level — their potatoes were like a millefeuille cake: impossibly thin layers stacked into golden perfection, shatteringly crisp with each bite, and topped with an excellent, flavour-packed sauce. I may never look at patatas bravas the same way again.
Palma isn’t just beautiful — it’s delicious. And I’m already planning my next visit, fork in hand.
